RE: 2005 E450 Ford V10 intermittent misfires
Well I can do quite a bit under the hood of a car but this job kicked my butt and humbled me to applying the credit card wrench to it. 3 different cylinders were misfiring plus random misfire code is what the shop came up with. Replaced all 10 plugs and coils and did a fuel system cleaning. Runs like a big heavy smooth box again.

RE: Towing a 2018 Wrangler JLU w/ Classic Brake Buddy questions
Power to the JLU is not an issue as the rear 12v plug is always on. Already in the process of running the trickle charge wire to the battery as it will need it for long drives. I ran the charge wire ahead of time when I installed the 7 way plug, just need the rest of the hardware for the line at the moment.

Towing a 2018 Wrangler JLU w/ Classic Brake Buddy questions
Looking for input on setting for the BB with towing my JLU.
Many years ago we towed our 01 Grand Cherokee with no issues with sensitivity on about 5 and 55 psi pressure settings. Now we are towing the JLU and set it about the same because it’s about the same weight. But it seems to grab more and seems to lock up the wheels.
For now I dropped it to 50 psi and a 4 sensitivity.
Are these settings good for the JLU or should I drop / add to this?

RE: 2005 E450 Ford V10 intermittent misfires
Well the saga continues on this and my scanner.
Went and scanned the RV and my scanner will not give me misfire data on the Ford engine. WTH??? Updated software on the scanner and will go back and test again. If all else fails I will try the cowl off in the dark to check. I do not hear a tick but we shall see what gives.

RE: 2005 E450 Ford V10 intermittent misfires
Alright, figured out today how to get misfire data out of my scanner while I was scanning my Audi so now I can go to storage and scan the C.
Good news to me is the Audi has no misfires for quite some time but it is due for plugs soon. No need for coils in it at the moment even despite its advanced miles, 230k miles

RE: Need new tires
My Class C came with the Michelins and they lasted WAY WAY longer than the recommendations said they should have, beyond 10 years and never had a blow out but I was not about to pay that price for them as a replacement. Went to Discount Tire and had an inexpensive set put on as we do less than 3,000 miles a year.
This past weekend I had to do a panic stop 60 to zero towing our Wrangler in the rain. They grabbed very well, no sliding, kept just off the edge of skidding and the rig and toad stayed straight. Brake Buddy was grabbing the Jeep brakes as well.
I think they are Mastercraft tires.

RE: 2005 E450 Ford V10 intermittent misfires
Well phooey, I need to read up more on my code reader. FOXWELL N630 is what I have. Hooked it up but could not find where to read the cylinder firing. Was not an option I could find in the live data fields.
From what I have read about the plug spitter problem stems back to a loose plug

2005 E450 Ford V10 intermittent misfires
My 2005 class C is built on a 2004 frame with the Ford V10 in it. It has developed an intermittent misfire this year but not enough to give a CEL.
Google searches tells me that it probably needs new plugs to cure this.
I am planning to replace the plugs despite their low mileage although being original. Rig only has 26,000 miles on it. Should I do coils at the same time or just the plugs?

RE: Is there a preferred oil for the Ford V10 E-450?
Wound up getting a two 5 quart jugs of the FOMOCO 5W20 from Wally World for $26.XX each. They did not have quarts which is why I went large jugs.
Air Filter - I put a K-N in may years ago and will eventually clean and re-oil it.
Thanks everyone

Is there a preferred oil for the Ford V10 E-450?
Yeah I am sorry, another oil thread.
Getting ready to change the oil in my 2005 Gulfstream. Book calls for the Ford 5W20 semi-synthetic oil which I have always used in the past but its getting harder to source. Seems Wally World is the only place I can find it for a reasonable price.
Is there another 5W20 that is possibly a better choice? Should I step up to a full synthetic? Filter wise I will pick up either a Motorcraft, Purolator, or Fram. Depends on price. Purolator makes Motorcraft and Fram for my applications has been excellent despite the bashing they get.
Champ labs, aka Fram, make the AC Delco, K & N, Mobile 1, Royal Purple oil filters. Seems that many will cuss Fram but praise the others on the list. Go figure.
But anyways off the side topic, which 5W20 oil? Leaning towards maybe Mobil 1 but I have no allegiance to them.

RE: Looking for suggestions on our 14 day trip to the southeast
Driving thru Chicago will suck, but driving around Chicago on 294 will be fine.
Rock City area near Chattanooga would be a good stop if you have the time.

Tippecanoe State Park - Winemac, IN - how's the Kayaking
So we are going to Tippecanoe in the middle of July and are considering taking the kayaks. Any one been there for kayaking? Worth taking the 'yaks?
River flows north to south so we will likely take a bike with us to to help self recover the Jeep and kayaks. Unload up-river and float down then bike back up to get the Jeep.
Last time we were there was before having the kayaks so we thought about getting in the river this year.
We will probably go do dinner in town at One Eyed Jacks. AWESOME FOOD there!

RE: Slideouts on a ClassC: How many?
If I were to buy again I think I would go with the living room slide out and nothing else. The space it gives versus the weight carry capacity it gives up is about as much as I would want to give up.

RE: Need help to find a replacement fuel door - 2005 Gulfstream
Wound up getting a replacement from Amazon. Thetford model #94305.
It is flush mounted so I was able to make it work.

RE: New to RVing and In Need Of Advice! :)
We started with a tent then progressed to a popup trailer to pull behind our Grand Cherokee. Decided to upgrade from the popup but the Grand was limited in what we could tow comfortably and safely. Moving up to a bigger trailer meant moving up to a truck as well. We went to look at a used class A and felt a bit overwhelmed in its size. Went over to the Class C section and took 1 for a test drive, felt like driving a big van. Drove home with it then proceeded to set up the Grand for flat tow.

RE: Brake system for 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
We had a Brake Buddy for our old 2001 Grand Cherokee, still using it for our 2018 Wrangler. Not a permanent mount but reusable with a new dinghy.
